Parque Dom Pedro Shopping Mall

Parque Dom Pedro Shopping Mall

  • PROJECT DESCRIPTIONDesigned by HOK, Parque Dom Pedro is Latin America’s largest shopping mall, encompassing 1.3 million sq ft of retail and leisure space. The project integrates thematic plazas, landscaped courts, and a 1.2 km circulation loop filled with natural light, creating a distinctive destination that combines commerce, leisure, and community. In Brazil, I collaborated on the adaptation of HOK’s design, translating the design package and producing the construction drawings to ensure full compliance with local codes while preserving the architectural vision. The food court is a big design feature at Parque Dom Pedro. It’s located on the lower level, surrounded by greenery, water features, and natural light, making it more than just a dining space — it’s an extension of the mall’s park-like atmosphere. The design emphasizes distinct themed entries, each tied to a natural landscape concept (Waters, Hills, Flowers, Stones, Trees). The themes extend from the exterior signage into the plazas and courts inside the mall, helping with wayfinding, creating unique arrival experiences for different customer groups and reinforce the idea of the mall as a park-like environment.

BEYOND DESIGN

As a volunteer with the AIA Chicago ARE Study Group, I help organize and lead collaborative study sessions while creating engaging learning resources for architects pursuing licensure. I specialize in translating complex professional practice topics into clear, visual, and practical learning experiences through diagrams, interactive quizzes, and real-world case studies. By connecting ARE concepts with everyday architectural practice, I aim to make the licensure process more approachable and collaborative.
